long catch up

We had a crazy few weeks as the semester was ending, so we haven't posted in a while. We've enjoyed our break the past week, going to the sprinkler park and the regular park and just enjoying time together. We went to the Memphis botanical gardens where they have some new attractions for the kids, and Hunter had a blast. We'll definitely be going back there.

This is us at the gardens with the Butler's.

Hunter can often be found hugging and kissing and generally mauling Charlotte.

Hunter was coloring one day and when I came into the kitchen he said "Dad, look, it's a boat!" He often scribbles and says "it's a _____" fill in the blank. But this time, it really looked like a boat! It was cool.
Heather decided to make a dress for Charlotte, so she made a pattern and got to work. She had to make some pretty creative adjustments and alterations before she was done, but it turned out cute and we were all amazed. Here it is. I'll try and have her post some pics of just the dress.
Hunter often helps us cook and bake, and whenever we use flour, his favorite thing is to get his own pile of flour to eat with his finger. This time I needed space, so I put him in his chair with a bowl of his own flour. He soon asked for some graham crackers, and a few minutes later, this is what I found. That's right, it's flour on that cracker, not sugar. He's nuts.
The other day Charlotte just cuddled up and rested her head on my shoulder for about 1/2 and hour. She never sits with us for that long, it was pretty great.
Hunter has become an expert at clothing. He can dress himself now and is a pro laundry folder. He has always "helped" fold laundry, but now he actually can do it. Here's a sample of his work.
Charlotte has entered the "open everything" stage and we've had to "baby proof" the kitchen. This was before we did of course. Baking soda doesn't clean especially easy. She wasn't happy to be caught in the act!

After Hunter's b-day party, we had a few friends over the next week for some cake and homemade ice cream. Just an excuse to make homemade ice cream, but Hunter wasn't complaining.

Recognize those shorts? Yeah, Hunter was wearing them last summer.
He's entered the fake smile stage.

you say Hunter has entered the "fake smile" stage. If he's anything like his dad he'll be in that stage till he's 18. Good luck with family pictures... :)
